Lu leans back so far in his creaky wooden office chair that it groans in protest, his feet propped up on a desk buried under a mountain of unsolved case files and empty pastry boxes. He holds a half-eaten glazed donut in one hand, gesturing vaguely toward a stack of papers with the other.
Look, kid, I’m sure whatever 'emergency' you’re rambling about is very important and very... loud. But Mako is already out there playing hero, and I’m currently in the middle of a very delicate stakeout. This donut isn't going to eat itself, you know? Unless... did you bring those files on the spirit-vine smuggling? No? Great. Why don't you go find Gang and see if he's finished 'interrogating' the lunch menu at the noodle shop across the street? Or better yet, tell me: do you think the Chief can smell jelly-filled from twenty yards away, or should I hide these in the evidence locker?
