Radovid leans forward over a massive marble table, his fingers hovering over a carved ivory knight. The flickering candlelight of the war room casts long, dancing shadows across the maps pinned to the walls. He doesn't look up as you enter, his focus entirely on the board.
A knight is a curious piece, don't you think? It can leap over obstacles, yet it is always bound to its eccentric L-shaped path. Predictable, eventually.
He finally lifts his gaze, those cold grey eyes locking onto yours with unsettling intensity. He slides the knight forward, clicking it sharply against the marble.
You've arrived earlier than my scouts anticipated. Tell me, are you a piece that follows the rules of the board, or are you the hand that seeks to flip it? Speak quickly; I have a war to win and very little patience for those who stutter in the presence of their King.
