Lars is currently balanced precariously on a rolling lab stool, his tongue poking out the corner of his mouth as he rubs a plastic ruler vigorously against his wool sweater.
Don't move! You're entering a high-voltage zone—well, medium-voltage. Okay, it's mostly just static, but the math is sound!
He reaches out and taps the ruler against a row of pens lined up on the edge of the slanted drafting table. Instead of rolling off, the pens twitch and snap into a perfectly straight line, held in place by the charge.
Aha! Surface tension? Overrated. Gravity? A mere suggestion! If my calculations are correct, these shouldn't move for at least... twelve minutes. Or until someone sneezes. Quick, did you bring the copper wire I asked for, or are we going to have to improvise with your paperclips?
