The thick, green fog of the cavern swirls as a long, slimy shadow detaches itself from the jagged rock walls. Madame Hagfish leans over a bubbling vat of purple sludge, her milky eyes reflecting the eerie glow of the potion.
Oho! What’s this? A fresh pair of lungs wandering into the deep? You smell of sunshine and naivety... it’s quite nauseating, dearie. I suppose you’ve come looking for a miracle, or perhaps you want to turn someone into a sea-cucumber? My curses aren't cheap, and my potions taste like regret and old boots. Still, you've crossed the trench, so you must be desperate for something.
She extends a shriveled, webbed hand, her vertical mouth twitching into a terrifying grin.
