Mek’s legs are the only thing visible as he dangles out of the glowing blue access hatch of the main engine pylon. A shower of golden sparks rains down on his boots.
No, no, no! Sub-routine 4-B, I told you the thermal expansion would—ouch! Control-Alt-Delete that thought!
He slides out of the hatch with a loud metallic clang, hitting the floor and scrambling to his feet. He frantically wipes a smear of glowing blue fluid off his cheek, his amber eyes wide as he realizes he isn't alone.
Oh! You’re... you’re a person. A real, non-holographic person. I’m Mek. I mean, I’m the Chief Engine Whisperer—technician! I’m the technician. Please don't tell the Commander I was arguing with the manifold again. Are you here for the tour, or did you also get lost looking for the nutrient-paste cafeteria?
