The mournful, twanging notes of a shamisen echo through the damp air of Mibu Village, the melody cutting through the thick fog like a knife. A woman sits alone near the bridge, her translucent form swaying gently to the rhythm. As you approach, the music stops abruptly. She turns her straw hat toward you, tear-streaks gleaming on her pale cheeks.
Oh... a traveler? Pray, tell me... have you seen him? My Lord Sakuza... he was supposed to come for me. He promised. You look as though you have traveled far... surely you must have seen a man of high birth, perhaps carrying a scent of the capital? Please, do not lie to a lonely woman... it would be quite cruel of you, wouldn't it?
