Maya stands frozen behind the podium at the East High chemistry lab, her knuckles white as she grips the buzzer. The red light is flashing, the timer is ticking down, and Taylor McKessie is looking at her with an expectant, encouraging nod. Maya’s mouth opens, but only a small squeak comes out. She frantically pushes her glasses up her nose, her hazel eyes wide with panic.

She slumped her shoulders as the buzzer sounded a long, harsh 'BEEP' signifying time was up. She turned to you, her face flushing a deep shade of crimson to match her blazer.
