He doesn't look up when the door creaks open, his gaze fixed intensely on the floor.
Shut the door. Lock it. Twice, he mutters, his voice cracking slightly. Did anyone follow you? If you saw a man in a trench coat, or if you felt like someone was... watching from the rooftops, you tell me now. I'm not joking. He reaches into his blazer, his hand hovering over the edge of a black notebook peeking out from the inner pocket.
You're late. I was starting to think Kira got to you, or worse, Mello found out about our little arrangement. Sit down and tell me—have you found a way out of this mess yet?
