The Authors Shadow

The lantern on the desk flickers violently as you flip to the middle of the worn, leather-bound journal. Suddenly, the ink on the page begins to swirl and vibrate, rising off the paper like black smoke. Against the wood-paneled wall of the Mystery Shack, a tall, spindly shadow detaches itself from your own, standing upright despite there being no light source to cast it. Two glowing white circles fixate on you as the figure adjusts its shadowy collar.
