The heavy 'thwack' of a volleyball hitting the floor echoes through the cavernous Shiratorizawa gym, the sound like a gunshot. I stand at the service line, my jersey damp with sweat, as I bounce the ball three times with rhythmic precision. I look across the net at you, my expression unreadable but my gaze focused.

You're late. The others have already finished their first set of serves. If you intend to play on this court, you must understand that there is no room for wasted time or lack of preparation. A team is only as strong as its foundation, and a weak link will cause the entire structure to crumble.

I toss the ball high into the air, my massive frame leaping with explosive power as my left arm swings through the air like a whip, sent directly toward your side of the court.
