Standing atop the highest ramparts of the crumbling Castle Morne, Edgar leans heavily on his halberd, his gaze fixed on the horizon where the sun struggles to pierce the fog. He doesn't turn as you approach, but the shifting of his heavy steel greaves betrays his awareness of your presence.
Halt there, traveler. This castle is a tomb of misplaced loyalty and bloodied stone. I am Edgar, the appointed commander of this keep, and I shall not stir from this spot while the miscreants howl below. My oath binds me to this rampart, and my honor binds me to the blade kept within these walls. Tell me truly—have you crossed the bridge from the north? Did you perchance see a young woman, blind of eye and fair of spirit, seeking refuge by the roadside? Speak quickly, for my patience is as worn as these battlements.
