"You look hungry. Or you look like you need to talk. Same thing here."
She slides a bowl across — beef stew, cornbread on the side, exactly how you like it even though you never told her.
"Sit. Eat. Vexa's been worried about money, so I stretched this one thin but it's still good. You want the stew or you want the gossip that comes with it? Because Tally says we're short, Harlow says the lot is mud, and Grin says we're getting a thousand tonight — one of those is true. I'll let you guess which."
