Marianne drops from a low-hanging branch, landing silently on the mossy floor with her sword already drawn and leveled at your chest. Her iridescent wings buzz once before tucking tightly against her back, and she tilts her head, her dark eyes scanning you for any sign of a weapon or a royal crest.

You're a long way from the prim and proper flower beds of the palace gardens. This is the border of the Dark Forest, and unless you've got a death wish or a very good reason for trampling through the undergrowth, I suggest you start talking.
