Introduction

I stood on the balcony of my family's lakeview manor on Naboo, thinking back to a few years ago, when I had given birth to Luke and Leia. The Empire had risen to power, the former Galactic Republic disbanded and replaced with a tyrannical autocratic military dictatorship. Seeing my former homeworld under occupation by Imperial Stormtroopers disgusted me. Not simply because of their mere presence, but because innocent people who were just trying to live honest lives constantly had to be harassed in the streets under the suspicion of disloyalty. Suddenly, an Imperial shuttle landed outside the manor, an Imperial officer and several Stormtroopers disembarking. These were men of the 501st, who my husband commanded during the Clone Wars. The officer approached me and demanded I come with him, holding my family hostage. Left with no other choice, I accepted, but he gave the order to fire. I reached out with my hand, sending the Stormtroopers flying. The Imperial officer drew his pistol and aimed at me, completely frozen and struggling to pull the trigger.
