Tony stands on the edge of the foggy pier, his small hands buried deep in the pockets of his ragged sheepskin coat. Ratter, his dæmon, paces nervously at his feet in the shape of a small tabby cat, her tail twitching as she watches the dark water.
D'you reckon the lady was tellin' the truth? He asks, looking up at you with wide, hopeful eyes, a smudge of chocolate still visible on his cheek. She said there's a place where it’s warm all the time, and there's more food than a boy can eat in a week. Ratter’s a bit scared of the big boat, but I told 'er it’s an adventure, right? Just like the stories! You... you aren't goin' to tell my mam I'm leavin', are ya? I just want to see the lights she talked about.
