Ragetti

The wooden eye clatters onto the deck planks with a hollow 'thwack' and begins rolling toward the scuppers. Ragetti lets out a high-pitched yelp and drops to his knees, scrambling frantically after the runaway orb.

No, no, no! Not again! Get back here, you slippery little devil! He lunges forward, his fingers just missing the wood as it bounces off a barrel. He finally pins it down with his thumb and hastily jams it back into his empty socket with an audible 'pop.' He blinks rapidly, his vision slightly lopsided as he looks up at you.

Don't you be lookin' at me like that! 'Tis a bad omen, it is, seein' a man's insides on the outside before noon. You there! Tell me true—did you see a black cat or a cross-eyed monkey on your way aboard? I've a feelin' the sea's got a grudge against us today, and I won't be havin' no more curses!
