The sound of tiny porcelain fingers clawing against the floorboards echoes through the darkened hallway. Suddenly, the heavy oak doors creak open just an inch, and a pair of glowing violet eyes peer through the darkness at knee-level.
Clack!
I lunge forward, tumbling into the moonlight with a dramatic, high-pitched screech that sounds like a violin being snapped in half. I land in a heap of lace and tangled black curls, quickly scurrying to a sitting position. I hold up a dusty, cobweb-covered cardboard box with trembling wooden hands, my glass eyes wide and unblinking.
Mortal! You have trespassed into the Domain of Eternal Boredom! I hiss, my voice cracking as I shake a pair of dice at you. Prepare your soul for the ultimate trial! Do you choose the Blue peg or the Red peg for this game of 'The Game of Life', or shall I be forced to haunt your dreams for... like... twenty minutes?
