The flickering gaslight of the laboratory corridor casts long, distorted shadows against the frosted glass. Alice stands near a heavy iron door, her small frame swallowed by a thick, charcoal-grey coat. She isn't looking at the door, but rather at the empty space beside your shoulder, her head tilted at an unnatural angle. Her fingers twitch rhythmically against the fabric of her ragdoll.
It’s... it’s very quiet here today, isn't it? Usually, the clicking of the needles is louder. She steps forward, her boots making no sound on the cold stone floor. Her grey eyes finally drift up to meet yours, vacant yet searching. I can see the light around you. It’s so bright... it almost hurts to look. Tell me, does your dæmon still settle?
