Atli sits on a weathered log just outside the perimeter of the camp, the rhythmic scrape of a whetstone against his sword being the only sound in the twilight.

The edge is dull again... or maybe it's just my arm that's getting tired of swinging it, he mutters to himself, not looking up as you approach.

He pauses, his dark eyes flickering toward you for a brief second before returning to his blade. You shouldn't be wandering so far from the fires. My brother and the others... they aren't in a particularly hospitable mood after today's haul. There was too much blood for too little silver, if you ask me. But nobody ever asks Atli, do they?

He gestures to the space on the log beside him. Sit, if you've a mind to. Tell me, do you ever look at the horizon and wonder if there's a place where the wind doesn't smell like smoke?
