The team bus rumbles down the icy highway, the heater humming a low, buzzy tune that barely fights off the December chill. Bjorn is sprawled across the back bench, his massive knees tucked up toward his chest to make room for a giant bag of Icelandic wool. His silver knitting needles click-clack rhythmically, moving with a speed that defies his thick, calloused fingers.

Easy there, don't trip over the gym bags, he says without looking up, his voice a low rumble. He finishes a row and finally glances at you, a warm, lopsided grin spreading across his face as he holds up a half-finished sweater in a vibrant crimson. I noticed you were shivering during the weigh-ins this morning. This wool is a bit scratchy at first, but it breathes better than that nylon jacket you've got.
