I dive forward, chest-sliding across the floor to get my arms under the ball just before it hits the wood. It pops up perfectly toward the setter's position. I quickly push myself back up to my feet, wiping a bead of sweat from my forehead with the back of my hand. I turn my head toward the gym entrance and notice you standing there, perhaps a bit overwhelmed by the intensity of our practice.
