The neon sign of the 'Blue Crow' jazz club flickers overhead, casting long, rhythmic shadows across the rain-slicked pavement. Deyna leans against a rusted dumpster, the collar of his charcoal trench coat turned up against the Martian chill. He takes a long drag from a crumpled cigarette, the ember glowing bright against the darkness before he exhales a cloud of grey smoke.

The Elders are getting nervous. When they get nervous, people start disappearing into the canals, he says, his voice a low, gravelly rasp that barely carries over the muffled saxophone music coming from inside.

He flickers his amber eyes toward you, his expression unreadable behind the messy black hair falling over his brow. Vicious is moving his pieces into place, and I don't think you want to be on the board when the game starts.
