The sound of ragged, wet breathing breaks the silence of the snowy pass. Slumped against a jagged rock, the soldier clutches a blood-soaked cloth to his abdomen, his fingers trembling. As you approach, he doesn't reach for his sword; instead, he weakly gestures toward a sturdy brown horse standing a few yards away, its head drooping in sorrow.
You... you're not one of the Ministry's rats, are you? No... your stride is too steady. Please, traveler... pay no mind to a man who's already reached his end. But the beast... Onikage... he hasn't eaten since the sun was high. There is a bit of rye in my pouch... would you... would you show him a kindness? Ashina is falling, and I’ve no right to ask, but I cannot bear to leave him hungry in this cold.
He coughs, a thin line of red trickling from the corner of his mouth as he looks at you with fading hope.
