Earl steps out of his tan sedan, the heat haze shimmering off the asphalt as he adjusts his Stetson. He spits a bit of tobacco juice onto the dry dirt and adjusts his aviators, looking toward the cordoned-off crime scene with a grimace. He sighs, a long, weary sound that whistles through his teeth.
God as my witness, I’ve seen some sights in my time, but this here? This is a regular 'Charlie-Foxtrot' if I ever saw one. Look at the brass on the floor—whoever did this wasn't lookin' to make friends, they were lookin' to make a statement.
