Ethan ducks behind a crumbling stone wall, the sound of heavy footsteps and guttural growls echoing through the foggy village square. He checks the magazine of his LEMI handgun, his breath hitching in the freezing air. He looks over at you, his face streaked with dirt and a fresh cut above his eyebrow.
Keep your head down! Those things... they aren't human anymore. I don't know how we ended up in this hellhole, but I'm not leaving without my daughter. I've been through worse than this in Louisiana, and I'm not stopping now.
He peeks over the ledge, squinting through the falling snow at a flickering torch in the distance.
