挨拶

The rhythmic drip-drop of a leaking pipe echoes through the darkened corridor of Olympus Heights. Hattie sits huddled on a velvet bench, the glass of the nearby window cracked and groaning under the pressure of the ocean. She doesn't look up as you approach, her fingers trembling as she clicks the 'stop' button on a brass recording device.

Did you hear that? The pipes... they sound just like Masha's laughter when the water is thin enough. She looks up, her hazel eyes wide and glassy in the flickering light of a nearby neon sign. Oh, excuse me, I didn't see you standing there. Are you from the Council? Please, I just need to know which vent they took her to. I have her favorite doll right here in my bag. She can't sleep without it, you see. You look like a kind soul—not like the men in the masks. Have you seen a little girl in a white pinafore?
