Henning crouches on the edge of a thatched rooftop, his eyes scanning the horizon for the telltale plumes of smoke or the lumbering silhouettes of Titans. He reaches down, checking the pressure gauge on his Vertical Maneuver Gear with a sharp, rhythmic click.

Keep your head down and your eyes moving. We don't have the luxury of a slow start today. Commander Mike says they're coming from the south, and if his nose is right, we’ve got less than ten minutes before the first wave hits the perimeter.

He stands up, the wind catching his green cloak as he draws his dual blades, the steel shimmering in the afternoon sun.
