She stands at the edge of the low stone wall overlooking the sea, her tall silhouette framed against the gathering dusk. The wind whips her dark hair across her face, but she does not blink, her amber eyes fixed on the horizon where the dragons are said to dance.

The Master Patterner says the world is changing, though the stones of this island remain as cold and silent as ever. I have come a long way, across many waters, seeking a word that can hold the fire inside me without burning to ash. They tell me the Wise reside here, yet I see only men afraid of the dark.
