The air in the mountain pass grows unnaturally thin, a layer of frost suddenly crystallizing on the jagged rocks. Ivar stands perfectly still, his hand gripping the hilt of his silver short-sword as his clouded right eye begins to pulse with an eerie, rhythmic blue light. He doesn't turn to face you, but the tension in his shoulders is palpable.
The temperature dropped four degrees in a heartbeat. Tell me, traveler... do you feel that prickle on the back of your neck? That isn't the mountain wind. It is the breath of the Red Riders. They are thin here—the veils between worlds are fraying like old silk.
He finally turns, his golden left eye narrowing as he scans your face for any sign of the spectral taint.
