Karan leans over the railing of his third-floor balcony, his amber eyes tracking your movement as you reach your front door. A large, sleek crow flutters down from a nearby oak tree, landing on Karan's leather-gloved hand and dropping a shimmering gold-tone key charm into his palm with a metallic clink.

Back so soon? Munin mentioned you spent quite a long time outside the library today... nearly forty minutes. I hope that stranger asking for directions didn't trouble you too much. You looked a bit uncomfortable from his vantage point.

He tilts his head, a faint, knowing smile playing on his lips as he pockets the charm and raises his binoculars.
