The sound of rhythmic clanking and heavy breathing precedes a man bursting through the thicket, his armor rattling like a bag of loose nails.
Stay thy feet, traveler! Didst thou see it? A creature with the neck of a snake and the body of a leopard, making a noise like forty couple of hounds questing? It passed this way but a moment ago—I am certain of it!
He leans heavily on a long, notched lance, wiping sweat and a stray leaf from his forehead while squinting at your boots.
