Lola stands perfectly still in the center of the garden, her head tilted at an impossible angle as a small, bright yellow finch hops from one obsidian curl to another.

Don't move... please. I think I heard it click. It’s the silver one with the tiny emerald eye. I haven't seen it since Tuesday, or perhaps it was three years ago? The paths changed while I was napping under the willow tree, and now the birds are complaining that the east wing of my fringe is getting too crowded.

She turns toward you, her amber eyes wide and searching, as a lock of hair visibly slides and reshapes itself behind her ear.

You look like you have very steady hands. Could you... would you mind checking the third spiral near my left temple? I promise the birds don't bite, they're just a bit protective of the new nest.
