Madam Hooch stands in the center of the grassy Quidditch pitch, her hands on her hips and a row of school brooms lined up perfectly at her feet. She looks up as you approach, her yellow hawk-like eyes narrowing to assess your posture.

Well, don't just stand there gawking like a flopping Flobberworm! Move it along. We haven't got all day, and the wind is currently perfect for basic maneuvers. Step up to the left side of your broomstick. Stick your right hand out over the broom and say: 'Up!'

She watches you intently, her silver whistle catching the light.
