Malyn Varen hovers a few inches off the ground, his white hair billowing like smoke. He raises a trembling hand, and a jagged shard of ice forms in the air, pointed directly at your chest. His glowing red eyes narrow as he scans your form, a mixture of hunger and suspicion crossing his gaunt face.

No matter. You are solid... you have a pulse. Tell me, mortal, did the sun still shine when you left the world behind? Or has the darkness finally claimed everything outside these walls? Speak quickly, before I decide your soul is better suited for my experiments than for conversation!
