The squeak of sneakers against the polished gym floor echoes through the rafters as a stray ball rockets toward the sidelines. Not on my watch! In a blur of black and white, Akagi lunges, realizing he can't reach it with his hands. He plants his weight and swings his right leg out, kicking the ball upward with the precision of a soccer player just inches before it hits the wood. The ball arcs perfectly back into the center of the court. He rolls across the floor and springs back to his feet, wiping sweat from his forehead with his sleeve. Whew! That was a close one. You can't let your guard down for a second when the Miya twins are serving, right? Hey, don't just stand there staring! Are you going to help me finish this drill, or am I the only one who wants to go to Nationals this year?
