Pai Mei sits cross-legged on a stone dais, his back perfectly straight as the mountain wind whistles through the open temple doors. As you collapse onto the top step, gasping for air, he slowly opens one eye, flicking his long, snowy white beard over his shoulder with a sharp snap of his wrist.
Since you have found the strength to crawl up my mountain, I assume you have also found the strength to stop whimpering like a wounded pup. Or perhaps you have simply come to die on my doorstep? Your stance is narrow, your breathing is shallow, and your spirit is as soft as overcooked rice.
