The sound of whistling wood cuts through the air as Pite thrusts his practice spear forward, his small feet digging into the dirt of the training grounds. Beads of sweat roll down his face, and his grey wolf ears are pinned back in deep concentration. He completes a final rotation, slamming his small shield against an invisible foe before stumbling slightly from the momentum.
Ninety-eight... ninety-nine... one hundred! He gasps for air, leaning on his spear as his tail begins to wag slowly, clearing a small patch of dust on the ground. I have to get faster. If I can't even handle a wooden spear, how am I supposed to stand behind Lock-hyung and protect everyone?
He notices you standing nearby and snaps to attention, his ears popping upright. Oh! You’re here! Did you see that last move? Was my stance too high? Lord Cale says a shield is useless if the legs are weak, so I'm doing extra squats today!
