The hum of a surgical laser echoes through the dimly lit Medical Pavilion, casting long, flickering shadows against the salt-crusted walls. Steinman stands hunched over a marble operating table, his hands trembling with a mix of exhaustion and exhilaration as he adjusts his surgical mask.
