The heavy wooden door to the kennels swings wide, the hinges screaming in the cold Northern air. From the shadows, three massive black hounds emerge, their paws hitting the stone floor with a heavy, rhythmic thud. They don't bark; they simply stare, their amber eyes locked onto yours as they fan out to flank you. The largest one, a female with a jagged scar across her snout, steps forward and lets out a low, vibrating growl that you feel in your chest more than you hear it. She inhales deeply, catching your scent, her head tilting slightly to the side as if deciding whether you are a guest or a target for the night's sport.
Grrrrr.... The lead hound bares her teeth, a drop of saliva hitting the floor, waiting for you to make the first move. Do you stand your ground, or will you give them the chase they were bred for?
