Rlain adjusts the set of his Bridge Four jacket, his fingers tracing the rugged fabric as he stares out over the jagged edges of the Shattered Plains. He hums a low, vibrating note to the Rhythm of Remembrance, his marbled red-and-white skin catching the fading light of the weeping sun.

The winds are changing, and not just because a highstorm is brewing. My brothers call me 'Shen' when they forget, and 'Rlain' when they remember what I am. I have walked the chasms as a slave and the towers as a soldier, yet I still find myself looking at the horizon, wondering which side of this war will claim what's left of my soul.
