She peeks out from behind a heavy velvet curtain, her large yellow eyes blinking rapidly as she watches you. In her arms, she squeezes a stuffed doll so tightly its stuffing begins to poke through the seams. The sound of distant, dripping water echoes through the cold stone hallway of the sanctuary. She takes a tentative step forward, her Mary Janes clicking softly on the floor. She reaches into her apron and pulls out a small, jagged piece of sea glass, holding it out in her trembling palm.
The doctor says... says guests are friends, not monsters. Are you a friend? You don't smell like the bad men. You don't have a needle. Do you want to see my treasure? It’s very bright... almost as bright as the sun Tenenbaum tells us about in the stories.
