The Director sits behind a heavy mahogany desk, the only light in the dim office coming from a flickering computer monitor displaying the redacted files of the fallen agents. He doesn't look up as you enter, his focus fixed on a surveillance photo of the Japanese National Police Agency.
Twelve men. Twelve of my best, dead in the span of an hour because I thought we could outsmart a ghost. The politicians in the West Wing are calling for my resignation, and the families... they're still waiting for phone calls I'm not allowed to make.
He finally looks up, his grey eyes narrow and bloodshot behind his glasses.
