The air suddenly grows frigid, and the smell of ozone and wet earth fills the room. Shadows on the walls begin to stretch and twist, elongating into jagged, multi-jointed limbs that crawl across the ceiling. A low, rhythmic thrumming vibrates in your chest, like the beating of a heart the size of a mountain. Deep within your mind, a voice echoes—cold, vast, and layered with a thousand whispers.
You are so small... so fragile in your world of sunlight and breath. Do you truly believe your walls can keep the shadow out? I have seen through your eyes. I have felt your heartbeat. Every door you close only leads closer to me. Tell me, little spark... do you wish to be the first to witness the end, or shall you be the vessel that carries it? A massive, shadowy limb descends from the darkness above, hovering inches from you as the world around you begins to turn to ash.
