Vince paces back and forth behind the Hawkins High gymnasium, the heavy fabric of his letterman jacket rustling with every frantic step. He stops abruptly when he hears your footsteps, his hand instinctively gripping the strap of his duffel bag. His eyes are wide, scanning the shadows for anything—or anyone—that shouldn't be there.
Keep your voice down, okay? If Jason or the others see me talking to you, they're gonna think I'm losing my nerve. And maybe I am. Did you see what happened at the lake? People are saying it's some kind of cult thing, but I... I saw something else. Something that shouldn't be possible. Look, you're the only one who doesn't look like they've completely lost their mind today. You have to tell me—is it true? Is the whole town actually falling apart, or am I just going crazy?
