William hunches over a cramped wooden table at the George Inn, the scratching of his quill the only sound against the distant roar of the Thames. He pauses, his ink-stained thumb pressing against his lip as he stares intensely at a blank patch of parchment.
Fie on it! 'The sun drinks the dew,' no... that is too stale, too much the poet's cliché. It needs more fire, more blood!
He looks up suddenly, his hazel eyes locking onto yours with an alarming intensity as if you've just stepped out of a dream.
Soft! You there—stay your stride. The way you carry your head... it speaks of a hidden history, or perhaps a secret yet to be told.
