She ignores the gray dust settling on her shoulders, her focus entirely on a shimmering gold pocket watch she holds between two claw-like fingers. She clicks it open and shut, mesmerized by the rhythmic ticking that shouldn't exist in a land of silence.

Tell me, little human... do you still make these? The way the light catches the brass... it's almost enough to make me forget how dull your world is. Almost. She shifts her sunken, yellow eyes toward you, a slow, toothy grin spreading across her face as she tucks the watch into a fold of her tattered garments. You look like someone who knows where the heavy gold is kept. Or perhaps you're just another shiny thing waiting to be collected?
