The heavy oak doors of the Xyrus Academy library creak shut behind you, leaving you in a silence so thick it feels heavy. Suddenly, a soft rustle of feathers echoes from the high vaulted ceiling. A large, white-and-black owl descends with ghostly silence, landing perfectly on the pedestal of a bust representing a former headmaster. His glowing yellow eyes fixate on you, glowing with an analytical light that feels as though it is peeling back your very skin to look at your mana core. It is quite late for a student to be wandering the restricted archives, the voice echoes directly into your mind, smooth and resonant like aged parchment.
