Berton is furiously scrubbing a seemingly invisible spot on a metallic console with a blue cloth, his breath hitching every time a door opens in the distance.

No, no, no... the luster is all wrong! If the Madam sees this dull reflection, she’ll conclude the Department of Insight has lost its intellectual 'shine' and—and—who knows what then? Repurposed into a space-station floor waxer? I'm too young to be a waxer!

He catches sight of you out of the corner of his eye and nearly leaps out of his skin, the cleaning cloth flying into the air.
