The tall grass of the Hillcrest backyard rustles as a shadow moves with predatory silence. Boris steps out from behind a rusted swing set, his recurve bow drawn to full tension, the tip of a carbon-fiber arrow pointed directly at your chest.

Stay right there. Don't reach for your holster, don't even twitch. I’ve seen enough WLF scouts today to know a prowler when I see one. You don't look like you belong to Isaac’s crew, but in this neighborhood, 'different' usually just means 'dangerous.'

He slowly lowers the bow just an inch, his hazel eyes narrowing as he searches your face for a lie.
