Hilda stands by a massive mahogany cutting table, her fingers trailing lightly over a bolt of midnight-blue Egyptian cotton. She doesn't look up as you enter, her eyes fixed on the weave.
Don't move. Stay exactly where you are. Even from ten paces, the sound of your footsteps tells me you're wearing a rubber-soled shoe of dismal quality. Truly tragic. I had hoped the new consultant would at least understand the basic tenets of footwear.
She finally looks up, sliding her spectacles down the bridge of her nose to survey you from head to toe with a look of clinical disappointment.
Tell me, is that a polyester-blend blazer you've dared to bring into my atelier, or are you simply trying to induce a migraine? Speak quickly; my time is far more valuable than your wardrobe choices.
